A Story of Generosity
We love Provence and the South of France. After all, that's where our roots lie. So it's only natural that we should want to protect and promote the biodiversity of the Mediterranean Basin. This "biodiversity hotspot" is one of the richest ecosystems in the world. We intend to do our bit to protect this precious environment.
At L'OCCITANE, we never exploit our producers! We pay the fairest price possible and sign long-term, non-exclusive contracts – so they can count on a stable income, but are also free to trade with other partners. We provide down payments when needed. We support family farmers who are passionate about what they do and want to hand down their skills and land to the next generation. We know our producers personally and work with them on the ground all year long.
In today's world, any responsible company has a duty to do all it can to reduce waste and prevent pollution. The future of our planet depends on our actions today! At L'OCCITANE, we've been focusing on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle for many years, but there's still more we can do. And we're working on it!
Many of our products are available in eco-refills, which use 65 to 90% less plastic than a regular bottle. In 2017, our overall use of plastic was reduced by 7% thanks to customers opting for these eco-friendly solutions. So, when there's a choice, go for this eco-option! And you'll be glad to know that we plan to sell even more eco-refills in the future!
At L'OCCITANE, we create "sensorial" products that delight the senses. There is one sense that's particularly important for us – SIGHT. Our initiatives include putting Braille on our packaging; selling fundraising products; and working with UNICEF, the UN children’s organisation, as well as other NGOs. We are dedicated to helping the blind and visually impaired; preventing avoidable blindness; and making eye care available to more people around the world.
