The Vallon des Auffes, a picturesque fishing port in Marseille ’s 7th arrondissement. This protected site with its magical aura is located 2 kilometers from the Old Port, close to the Catalans beach and the Malmousque port. It combines an intimate setting with an opening on to the Mediterranean. A 3D postcard that marvelously illustrates the character and richness of Marseille. Colorful, welcoming and generous, it enjoys an authentic décor of fishing cabins, restaurants and moored fishing boats, the traditional “pointus”. You know those little fishing boats with the cheerful colors, blue, yellow, orange, white… “Auffes” referencing the Esparto grass that is used to make the ropes for boats.

Nestled between the port and the sea wall is a seawater pool. The light is just splendid. The scene is set. Time stands still. The Vallon des Auffes is also a stronghold for renowned restaurants: Chez Fonfon for bouillabaisse, L’Epuisette for fine dining by chef Guillaume Sourrieu (who cut his teeth under Bernard Loiseau), and finally Chez Jeannot, for its pizzas and shellfish. Addresses cited by the designer from Marseille Ora-ïto , who is fortunate to belong to the privileged circle that possesses a cabin on the Vallon des Auffes. A rare and precious place, conducive to creation, where Ora-ïto likes to recharge his batteries during his trips to Marseille.
