Discovering the Bouches-du-Rhône Region

Heritage, scenic beauty, cultural events… there are so many things to do in Marseille, Arles and Saint-Rémy de Provence. Here’s a small overview of just some of the region’s assets.

In the heart of Marseille, take off to discover the famous Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde basilica, better known as “The Good Mother;” from up there, enjoy an exceptional view over Marseille but also to the Frioul Islands. In the center of town, admire the fountains and shops that seem to belong to another time, before lingering by the port. And why not hop on one of the cruises that will take you to visit the famous “calanques,” or rocky coves on the coast?

Just like Marseille, Arles is always lively. Classified as a “city of art and history,” this center of the Bouches-du-Rhône department has a large number of UNESCO World Heritage listed monuments. To discover in particular, the famous Amphitheatre or the obelisk on the Place de Republic, or the Eglise Saint-Trophine church and its lovely portal.

And finally, soak up the “Dolce Vita” in the typically sunny streets of Saint-Rémy de Provence. You can enjoy a bit of coolness by one of the distinctive fountains, or have a drink on a café terrace. You can also enjoy a sweet treat in one of the city’s many renowned establishments.
